Sailing yacht Nyima, formerly known as Christoffel’s Lighthouse, is a 32.35-meter masterpiece built by Holland Jachtbouw. This elegant yacht, known for her sleek lines, is currently undergoing a comprehensive refit at Huisfit in Amsterdam. The last major overhaul of rig took place in 2015, but now Nyima is once again in the expert hands of professionals to ensure she continues to perform at her best.
A significant part of the current refit, involves restoring her carbon mast, a critical component of the yacht's sailing capabilities. The process began with the complete disassembly of the rigging, meticulously detaching every piece to prepare the mast for a fresh start. We are repairing the mast tubes for the Electral cables, which have become porous in some areas. The mast is then stripped and will be fully repainted. Once the mast is fully refinished, it will be expertly re-rigged, bringing Nyima back to her full sailing potential.
In addition to the mast work, all dismantled parts are thoroughly inspected for damage, repaired, cleaned, or replaced to ensure they are in the best possible condition. This includes reconditioning components like blocks, reproducing pins, conducting NDT (non-destructive testing) on loose parts, cleaning the interior of the mast, and polishing various elements.
Furthermore, the yacht’s hatches are undergoing necessary repairs, to maintain their integrity and safety. This refit represents more than just maintenance; it is a dedication to preserving Nyima’s legacy while enhancing her future performance on the open sea
